Still Namless

I just finished sewing the outer border on the Halloween Calendar quilt. Although I had some good suggestions, I still haven't found the RIGHT name.

When I name my patterns it's just one of those things- I know it when I hear it.

So I'm going to have another contest.

On the right side of the screen (at the top!) I added a Poll for you to vote on your favorite of the three names. Leave me a comment telling me that you voted and you'll be entered to win a free pattern (plus a bundle of scraps that I used to make this quilt!)
The contest ends on Aug. 3 sometime in the middle of the day (blogger was being stupid and not letting me change the date and time).
At the end of the contest whichever name gets the most votes will be the new name for the pattern and Random.org will select a winner from the comments. PLEASE VOTE!!!

Selvage Blog!

Did anyone see this?

I just checked my email and had a cute message from Kat Runyan (Yes, Tula's Mom!) asking how I got my quilt posted on 'Selvage Blog'?

I'm thinking "I did!?"

So I hopped on over and there it was! *SQUEAL!*

Thanks for sharing my quilt blogginmommy, so the rest of the world can see it! :o)

Happy Monday!

Leftovers

After my 'stash' sale I'll post pictures of what's left-

still trying to decide how to manage the whole thing.

Maybe they'll go on Etsy.

Maybe I'll give them to the highest bidder.

Maybe the first one to comment.

not sure.

I'll let you know.

CRAZY!!

Thought I'd share a pic of one of my 'scrap' projects.

Found a box of scraps I started playing with over a year ago and decided to FINISH this UFO- by the end of the summer! (sometimes setting a goal actually helps in accomplishing something)
Of course I am strip piecing this- but still!

Wanna make a 'CRAZY' postage stamp quilt like this? It started with leftover Jelly Roll strips that I cut in half lengthwise. That makes them 1 1/4" wide. Now I know there's a whole group of quilters out there that do those 'Oh My Gosh' quilts with teeny-tiny pieces. But I'm not one of them. This is about as small as I get- hence the reason I'm calling it 'CRAZY'.

Feelin' the LOVE

Today was July Fair in Provo for the Utah Valley Quilt Guild. I don't know if it has a more official name- everyone just calls it July Fair. I told my girl Margie of Ribbon Candy Quilt Co. that I would stop by. I finally put my tired self in the car and headed there- just in time. I got there at 2:45 and didn't even know they closed at 3!

From the moment I walked in the door I was bombarded by well wishes and hello's. Jill from Jillily Studio came over and gave me a HUGE hug! (Then I proceeded to talk her ear off!) Also, my super cool friend Terry and her cute daughter Lisa, from Thankfully Sew was there. I didn't bother them with my nonsensical talking- but they were so thoughtful in asking how I was. I'll be sure to talk Terry's ear off next week when we have lunch! :o) Made sure to say Hi to Konda at Moose (it's just shorter that way!) and Machelle from Cherry Tree Cottage. And of course, visited a bit with Margie.

Stayed past closing until about 3:30 and finally let everyone go home. But as I pulled my car out of the parking lot I was overwhelmed with how much everyone cares about me. Thank you everyone for all the love and support. It really boosted my spirits today- and everyday.

I'm sure they didn't even know how much their well-wishes meant to me (but hopefully they do now!) And to all of YOU who have written comments and sent emails- I read ALL OF THEM and I appreciate every word. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You.

Cleaning House

I've been working through the 'Stash' lately planning for an "EVENT". (Have you seen the commercial? Yes, this is the event.) I've also been blog-hopping looking for new inspiration.
Although I've visited this blog several times before, this time I was captivated by something that usually doesn't 'captivate' me. Take a peek at this. Every single one of these blocks can come from the stash. Stuff that I might normally get rid of (yes, you heard me- Get. Rid. Of.) is starting to take on a new meaning to me.
Many of you already save and use every single scrap. I'm not one of those. Ok, I save them- but I don't use them. I was also inspired by this. How fun!

I'm thinking....

Give me a minute, I might be on to something.....

I'll get back to you.

So, What are your thoughts on 'scraps'?

Career MOVE?

The hubs has been in the process of a major career change for over a year. If everything goes as planned some major changes could be happening in just a few months. The good thing is- I can be a 'Crazy Old Lady' from ANYWHERE we end up (since I work from home). With this possible change the hubs and I have been talking:

"What if this career move doesn't happen- then what?"

So we've been playing around with the idea of just packing up and relocating somewhere- random (-ish).

Now, before you get all upset (you know who you are!), this is JUST AN IDEA we've been toying with. Of course, we have to see what's going to happen with the whole 'plan' he's been working on first.

The problem with "random" is you don't really know what you're going to get. So, I thought I'd ask all of you. Tell me where you live (or lived) and why it'd be a nice place to move. I wanna know EVERYTHING. For example- are there tornado's where you live? What about crazy sickening bugs? What's the cost-of-living like? Is it kid friendly? etc.

Can't wait to hear some ideas and share them with the hubs. :o)

BOO!

I don't know if the quilting community will take to these patterns- but I sure love 'em. Before "Counting on Christmas" was finished I was already working on this:

I tried to 'adapt' the same pattern but it didn't work. So a whole new pattern was born. Some of the elements are the same but "Counting on Christmas" only goes to day 25, while this one goes all the way to 31. (duh!)
Anyway, I'm having a little problem- the name. I can't come up with a catchy name for this pattern. So I'm opening it up to you. Give me your ideas. If I pick yours, I'll send you the pattern! Sound like a good deal?
*Inside note: I'm already working on ANOTHER one. I don't think every month is going to work (dangit!) because, well, Thanksgiving is on a thursday- so, how's that going to work? But there are a couple more that I'd like to do. And I just ordered some fabric this morning for the next one on my list. (squeel!)

Christmas in JULY!

I finally got the kits cut and listed on my Etsy shop for "Season's Greetings", want one!?

I only have a few- so you better get on it quick. I'm offering a bonus for the first kit sold: I'm throwing in a package of buttons for the extra embellishment- FREE!!!!

One more little tid-bit: ONE kit for 'Counting on Christmas'. Yep, only 1! It's listed on my Etsy shop too. If you want this one, you better hurry. It's gonna go fast!

Happy Holidays! :o)

HomewardBOUND!

What did you do all weekend? I was home so I decided to finish up this little thing:

Do you wanna see more?
I showed a tiny sneek peek a week or so ago. So here's a little more of the finished product. The top and bottom edges of the quilt are a zag-zag. Why did I do this? Because it's SO CUTE! But it's a miracle I finished it. I HATE binding quilts and since this one took a little extra effort it's amazing that I got it done.

This quilt was inspired by 'Sizzlin Sixties' by Anka's Treasures
I got my hands on a Moda Scrap Bag that happened to contain strips of Verna with their selvages and in a sleepless moment (you know what I'm talking about) envisioned this quilt. Here's a couple blocks up close:

I threw in as many coordinating scraps that I could find. And then, when I realized that one Scrap Bag was not enough- I tried to find another one. I ended up calling Fat Quarter Shop to see if they had any. They were super nice to me- but I wouldn't recommend calling ANYONE for a specific Scrap Bag. I mean, they're called "Scrap Bags" for a reason. A few days later my scrap bag came in the mail. I was so excited. I tore it open so fast only to realize that this scrap bag, although it had strips of Verna, didn't contain the selvage edges of the fabric. That was the WHOLE POINT. So my quest led me back to the original store that I bought my first scrap bag from to track down someone else who may have purchased one and might be willing to trade for a 'selvage-less' bag. BINGO! Oh, for the love of fabric. The trade was made, the top was sewn, and now a few months later, the quilt is finished. And guess what?
IT'S MINE!!!
(Don't you love how I share every little boring detail. Sorry)

Camera Phones!

My BFF always comes through for me. This morning I recieved an email after she read my blog and it included several pix taken from our camera phones over the weekend. Here are a few that turned out pretty good

Seal Beach. When we first got there it was overcast- but once those clouds burned off it was beautiful. Those are my shoes there in the picture. Bought 'em in MN. LOVE THEM! Thinking of doing a whole post just on the shoes- what do you think? ;o) btw- those birds are bold. While taking a romantic stroll down the beach with my hubs the birds came right up to my bag and stole my chips. Seriously. Gave my BFF and her fam some good entertainment for a few minutes. Fearless those birds.

Here's me and the hubs cheesing it up while waiting in line for 'Indiana Jones' at Disneyland. Not a bad pic of me considering the extra weight I've put on being sick and how bad my skin looks right now. But hey, if he's willing to get close to me I guess it's all ok. Right!? :o)
Thanks BFF!

No Pix!

I made a small goal during my isolation that I'm going to post MORE pictures on my blog. Then I went on a mini-vacation and didn't take 1 single picture on my camera. (Took a few with my phone but they're horrible quality). Anyhow. Spent the evening last night surfing the web for a couple pics to post of my trip just to give you an idea but most of them were copywrited and I didn't want to 'steal' them. I'm sure I could have found something- but after an hour of searching it just wasn't worth it. Besides, most of you can just imagine.

Sand.

Sea.

Surf.

Yup, I was in SoCal at Seal Beach, CA. It's beautiful and the weather was PERFECT! A little crowded- but what do you expect on a holiday weekend? We had a wonderful time anyway just sittin' in the sun relaxing to the sound of the crashing waves. Ahhh, paradise.

Also spent a day at the "Happiest Place on Earth"- that's DISNEYLAND!!! I just love it there. We only had one day in the park but the weather was great for that too. A little overcast so the park wasn't too busy in the morning and we walked onto most rides without a long wait. The sad thing is I'm older than I thought. After a day of walking that park my legs and hips are SO SORE! What happened to the days I could run around that place for 3 days and not even feel it!? Oh yeah, that was 15 years ago! :o)

And before anyone gets too 'upset' about it- let me explain. My "RULES" of isolation at that point say limited contact for short periods of time. So I figure the amount of time I was really standing/sitting by one person was well within the time limit of 2 hours. So it was fine. No one harmfully contaminated. :o)

So I'm back home today and working on getting out orders. They'll all be mailed out by tomorrow (even the ETSY ones) just in case anyone is wondering.

I'll have some pics to post of FUN STUFF in the next few days! :o)

I must be chicken...

...because I just flew the coop!

(I'll post pix in the next couple days so you can see where I am!)
