I could just DYE

I've been DYEING to show you what I've been up to!

I've never dyed fabric before. Well, not like this anyway. A couple halloween costumes here and there. This time it was 8 yards of 108" wide fabric. That's a lot of fabric.

I used brown the first time, and then again with black. I love the motled color that it gives. These pictures were taken when it was still wet but once it dried (and lightened) I liked it even more.

This is going to be used for one of my 2 market booths. I have a little more to do to it to get it ready to hang. I'll be sure to show you the finished product.

In other news- Tuesday, May 1st kicks of my 30 blogs in 30 days for 30 books tour to promote my new book 'Geared for Guys'! If you want to hear more about my book and maybe even win one yourself you're going to want to follow along. I'll post all the info HERE on Monday so you can be sure to follow along!

And don't forget to go to http://www.creativetalknetwork.com/ to see/hear more information on my radio show appearance with Pat Sloan on Monday!!!

By the way- only a little over 2 weeks until I leave for market. AH!!!

Re-treat Re-cap

Wow. What a fun weekend! I had the privlendge of hanging out with some super fun ladies thie last weekend at the Pie Plate Patterns Super Spring Quilt Retreat and we had a blast!

I didn't remember to take out my camera very often so my pics are few and far between. But I'll try my best to fill in the details.

Terry and I made the trek down to Fairview, UT on Wed. afternoon. Shannon was nice enough to put us up in her condo-on-wheels. This trailer is nothing like I've seen before. Fully equiped with a fireplace, flat screen TV, his and hers recliners, and corian countertops! It was gorgeous!

Here's a pic of my sewing setup one night. Usually we were in the main house with everyone else. But on this night there was a class going on where we normally were so I hauled my things to the trailer to keep working.

Us thress girls had so much fun laughing a giggling. Especially the first night when we went to bed way too late and couldn't figure out how to get the heater to kick on. We ended up sneaking into the house and camping out on the couch and floor!

The next day I had to head back home for the afternoon to take care of some business, but was back to the retreat by dinner.

Friday morning our schedule was clear so we took a drive down the road to Ephraim, UT to hit up the 'Fabric Shack'. What a cute little place. For such a small shop she sure packs it full of goodies.

There was a nice selection and we managed to find a little something each of us needed. Terry was looking for a batik and found the perfect orange to go with one of her projects, as well as some other prints she hadn't seen anywhere else and instantly fell in love with.

Of course Shannon and I didn't make it out of the shop empty handed either. I found enough goodies to finish a few projects and start a couple more.

This is the owner, Fran, and her little neighbor buddy, Bailey. They were busy making Bailey a little bag to hold her LeapPad. She was a doll!

Later in the afternoon we had a yummy Linner (lunch/dinner) at Mexicano's in Mt. Pleasant and stopped to shop at a local antiques store. How I managed to leave there without anything is beyond me. There were so many treasures!

Then it was back to burning the midnight oil on our machines! Bonnie and Brenda had such fun little projects each night for us to work on. I'll show you some of the ones I did in the next couple days. :o)

We kept teasing Shannon that the was always dressed so cute! Wouldn't you agree!? I managed to get this one right as she was getting ready to say something and it's still cute. :o)

Terry would hardly lift her head from the machine for a minute for me to snap a picture!

As for me, I kept busy the whole weekend long cutting up pieces of this:

Don't you worry, the full reveal is coming soon!

I couldn't end this post without adding a picture of one of Bonnie's new quilts. She used Hall of Fame for this fun quilt and I LOVE IT!!!  Look for this pattern in Pie Plate Patterns new book!

Selvedge anyone?

I thought I would give you another little tease.

I still can't show you any prints and I am SO SORRY!  I can't wait to show you. I think you're really going to like this one- especially if you liked Going Coastal.  :o)

I'm headed out this weekend for a bit of fun. Pie Plate Patterns super spring quilt retreat starts today!  I'm teaching a class this evening (Clambake) and doing a trunk show on Friday. I am so excited to have a few days for nothing but sewing. Especially since I have some market samples to work on.

I hope to post a few pics during the retreat. We'll see!  :o)

Portion Distortion

istock- double cheeseburger

I have decided that portion distortion doesn't only apply to food.

Believe it or not, this cupboard was once nicely organized. Not anymore.

I've been biting off more than I can chew. It's stressful. Time to scale back and stop overloading myself. I have a few more 'have to' projects but after that I am definately going to implement a portion control policy in my life.

Now if all the fabric companies would just support me and stop producing such dang cute fabrics! ;o)

That time of year

I love days like this. The opening of packages feels just like Christmas. Maybe even better.

The box is already empty and sorted into piles. The next few weeks will be a whirlwind of activity while I get ready for market. But at least I have a few weeks. Usually I push it to the very last minute.

Ok, time to get back to work. No vacations for me right now. Well, kinda.  :o)

We are YOUNG!!!

I had to take a tiny break once my book was finished- but I'm back! And I have some fun to share with you.

A few weeks back I heard that Andalucia - my favorite Patty Young collection- was coming back in new colors! I called MMF right away to see if I could get my hands on a few prints.

I just LOVE the blues, teals, and greens. They are gorgeous. There's also some fun pink, ornage and browns too. I paired the cool hues with some cotton couture solids to match.

I can't wait to show you what I've been making!

Market is just around the corner so I'm going to be quite the busy bee around here.
